Immersing ancient music into Unsung Empires: The Cholas with Kosai Nagaran
We are delighted to announce our collaboration with Kosai Nagaran, a group of passionate musicians from native Tamil Nadu who specialize in playing and preserving centuries-old traditional instruments with deep cultural roots for over 12 years. They pay homage to ancient Koyembedu, located in Chennai, from which their name was derived.
Kosai Nagaran is very passionate about reviving and exhibiting this endangered art form and passing it on to the coming Tamil generations. They not only showcase their instruments in their store but also provide lessons on how to play them. We recorded our soundtracks with Kosai Nagaran in the Mystic’s Room at Nungambakkam, Chennai, and are excited to share our experience with you.

Crafting an Extraordinary Gaming Experience with Kosai Nagaran
Collaborating with Kosai Nagaran was incredibly enriching, an experience unlike any other. Our aim was to portray the historical accuracy of the Rajendra Chola era and craft an exceptional journey for our audience. Their contribution exceeded our expectations, elevating our project beyond our imagination by infusing it with authenticity and unique auditory experience.
Each instrument had a story of its own—the "kokkarai" crafted from cow’s horns, produced vibrant sounds; the "kuruvi" made from soil, which mimics the chirps of a sparrow; and the "murassu," a grand instrument that once held great significance in ancient Tamil Nadu. The wonderful experience we had, combining our creativity to craft something special, was immensely electrifying. We are truly excited to incorporate these elements into our game.
Get ready to experience a true-to-life adventure with these authentic tunes played in our combat scores, Sound effects (SFX) and background tracks, adding a whole new layer of immersion.
